I thought Germany actually dominated the first half: they were physically stronger, muscled the Brazilians out of many plays, and were usually the first ones to loose balls.

They just couldn't convert that dominance into goals.

Much attention will be paid to the first goal, and Kahn will probably blame himself. Not an easy ball to handle: no spin at all, struck hard, sinking fast. Maybe he should have held it, but he didn't, and Ronaldo was there.

I thought the offensive play of the game didn't even involve a touch of the ball: Rivaldo's dummy over the pass that led to the second goal, pulling the defender out of position and creating the space for Ronaldo to finish.

Marcos made some outstanding saves, and put some doubts to rest.

Ronaldo will be the hero, but apart from those two moments his game was not that exceptional. He had some great chances in the first half, particularly when released by a brilliant through ball from Ronaldinho, and couldn't convert. He did it when it counted, though, and that will be remembered.

The better team won.
