semi, Looks like they need to refine it, possibly by starting the mold closer to the MP of the Si so it will have a longer flow time before it congeals againt the cold quartz mold. Thet will decrease the energy input needed to flash melt the surface layer and that may allow a better fit to the mold. Of course, if it fits too well, it may not detach due to mechanical interlocks.
Hard to see them making many layers unless they planarized it and then did it again in another direction, for some reason? Added metal might not flow at all??

I figure it would be good to make a 'blacker' (less scattered off....more going internally)surface for photocells. Electrodes in trenches etc?
