Go forward with the usual relentless?????? Actually, I was shocked they did as much going forward as they did!

Hey -g... This was the final and granted, this was not the best German team, we all knew that, but even so... the Germany of past cups have always been relentless... and I was concerned with that as (we all knew as well), Brazil is at the beginning of reconstructing another phenomenal team... Wait for the next 4 years... so the danger of losing was certainly there.

I don't! Other than beating up on the super inadequate Saudis, the only good games I watched in this WC that Germany was in it was watching them being outplayed by the Irish, the Americans and the Koreans!<g> But in the final they showed up finally no doubt about it.

lol... now, now... you are letting your eyes getting filled with the fog of your own bias -ggg

The other thing Germany is WELL KNOWN for is ... what else but efficiency !! I mean, they would stop being Germans !!

It is the typical efficient... bordering on boring -g European football... yes, yes... The other team should have won Ireland, USA, Korea... and who else ? Greece ? oops no, never mind, just kidding -gg... The reality is all three fell victims to the machine-like efficiency, most probably due to their inexperience... pretty ? no,not really, but who was in the final ? I know, Germany. AND who beat them ? Brazil... the ONLY team that can outsmart with uncanny .... (yes, I know) efficiency such style of football because no-one else can with the regularity that Brazil can... (see the table I posted earlier, which btw I am updating to include this world cup.

I have been observing what that table tell us all... and quite incredibly (and accurately) that table reflect each team's REAL ability to play football successfully... Germany is the second most successful team to play this game.... let me put this in perspective... Had Germany won the final today... Germany would have tied Brazil in the number of Championship... Brazil is still ahead, but Germany is not that far away. In fact Germany is the ONLY team that within reasonable striking distance of the maestros... (remember too Brazil is the ONLY team who has played all 17 finals)... Germany, (along with Italy) is closest with 15 finals.... point difference (using the old system of 2 - 1- 0 for W - T - L), between Brazil and Germany (prior to this year's cup... 13 points (not counting this cup's result, which will favor Brazil)

Here is where Brazil outshines not only Germany, but everybody else by far... Goal difference: Brazil 95 Germany (closest) 59.

Here we have an interesting statistics...

Spain... just regained (from France) their 6th spot in world ranking.

Another shocking stat ? Denmark (your faves -lol) while ONLY 2 cups to their belt, they hold position number 22 with 16 points... with 5 of their 9 games as "wins" that's a respectable 55 % efficiency Brazil ? 66 % Germany 58 %

Mexico... while improving in this cup (which if calculations are correct...), Mexico is placed 15th overall...except that... guess what is the goal difference for Mexico ?

The worst of them all with an incredible -36 (for such relatively high ranking)... How is that possible ? A = lots of ties (27%) So next time you want to see goals... watch Mexico, you'll see them.. but not necessarily in their favor -lol

So what I was referring to was the historical record and in a final that would be expected... this time around, it is true they really did not played to their usual standard

I am thinking about it too...maybe we can all meet there this time and have the SI thread live over several rounds of beer (I will stick with wine, I hate beer)!

A very good possibility... I will have the time to schedule things

Look at what who may be coming to play....

This Brazil team is going to become awesome. (see my comments on Ronaldihno in my other post)

btw... New rules for the next cup: Current Champion (Brazil) WILL HAVE to qualify for the next cup... So I suppose this 32 slots of teams for the final have become very much at a premium... so the only team "for sure" now is Germany as the hosts.

Germany, I am sure in typical fashion as the hosts, they will DEMAND from their players and coaches to come up with a superb team and I have the feeling they will not disappoint.

Italy, I am certain [well --almost --as with those guys you never know -g], but at least I am hoping that they are going to come back and leave theatrics at the opera and come through with what the real Italian players can do. This year's team was a mere joke. I hope the Italian Soccer Federation can learn from Ferrari and show thet in reality they have what it takes to form a great soccer team. And please, please, please... leave the damned lawsuits and posturing to American lawyers... just forget this year's fiasco and get on with the job of rebuilding a true soccer team.

Spain.... hmmm I am not sure they will come up with the needed replacement players that they will lose after this cup in the 4 year window... we will see.

USA Ha ! I cannot wait to see what they will prepare for us all... Hopefully, a more experienced team will develop.

S. Korea... NO doubt they are motivated to do well again...

Maybe some of the African nations will make the last leap and improve to the level of say Korea and who knows what other possible surprises some of the "dark horses" will show us.

Third place Turkey... what will they do next ?

So definitively something to consider.... Oh and not to mention the fact that watching games at 5:00 and 3:00 in the morning and so on.... absolutely sucks !

As for beer and wine.... I too prefer wine, but there are beers worthy to be consumed in healthy quantities... Particularly Czech, German, Belgian and Mexican ones (regardless of the order)...amongst others... So a visit to...

hofbraeuhaus.de

This may change your mind about beers... I suspect if you heve been er... drinking the yellow carbonated water from "bud" and co... then I understand your dislike for beer. -g

(hopefully Brazil is placed in the group in Munich )

Not to mention ... I might be able to have the opportunity to use something around this vicinity -g
