Housing and Deflation. Notice that as one reads through articles of late the word deflation is cropping up more and more. Appears that more than one pundit is now putting a higher probability on the serious deflationary scenario, as compared to just a few months back. With respect to housing I'm doing a little digging. If the housing sector is so robust the HMI in not in my opinion reflecting that. Looks pretty flat this year, and it usually falls off later. Furthermore the component relative to prospective buyers has tracked down with the market since the first of the year. nahb.com
