I think that if all you want to do is install your HP printer, then just install it and make it the default - there should be no conflicts.

If, when you click on settings - printers, you still see the Okidata printer icon, all you have to do is right-click and delete it. The files left behind should not cause you any problem - I have changed printers a few times and never had a problem.

I'm not really sure that you can safely delete that .inf file, so I hesitate to answer that but, if you leave it there, install the HP as your default, and make sure that the Okidata is removed from the printers section of settings, it should do no harm.

Dennis Murphy may have a better answer.

I wouldn't worry about the leftover files at all. If you don't have a program that calls for the file that was left it will just sit there doing nothing. No harm, no foul.
