Has anyone ever told you that you were paranoid? Where in the Pledge does it mention Christian conservatives? I'm not a Christian conservative, I'm not even Christian, but I have no problem with the conservatives in this country, they're the only ones who have a sense of what this country is about... I'm sure you realize this country was founded on the principal that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with specific rights that cannot be taken away...

The entire push of the great conservative movement from the 80's and 90's has been to insure that the beliefs of the Christian conservatives are put into America a tone that creates young adults like this.

"I cannot tell you the wonderful relationship she has with her father," said Elizabeth, "and what a wonderful person she is. She would never intentionally do anything to hurt anybody, especially her mother and father."

Jenna's Roommate Disputes Boozing Reports

A woman claiming to be first daughter Jenna Bush's University of Texas apartment mate told a California radio show Sunday night that the media are exaggerating reports of the Bush twins' underage boozing to make it seem as if they have a drinking problem.

"They don't drink a lot, no," said Elizabeth, who told KABC in Los Angeles that she had lived in Jenna's dormitory freshman year and shared an apartment with her last year. "Especially in comparison to other college students, they don't drink a lot. I would say less than the average college student."

Elizabeth did not give her last name. But she left host Brian Whitman so convinced of her authenticity that he replayed the call to his WABC New York audience just hours later.

"I understand what it would be like from an outsider's point of view, reading the newspaper and hearing these repeated offenses," the Jenna defender said. "It's easy to draw conclusions."

But, added Elizabeth, "I think that it's very unfortunate that in this time in her life - freshman to senior year - she's under a microscope, she's under such scrutiny."

Of [21]last week's incident at the Washington, D.C., bar Stetson's, which the Washington Post reported based on the accounts of several inebriated patrons who admitted they couldn't tell the difference between Jenna and Barbara, Elizabeth said the Bush twins hadn't seen each other for some time and merely wanted to go out.

"Imagine you haven't seen your sister for a while and you want to go out like any 20-year-old would," said Jenna's apparent roommate. "What do you do when you're 20? Do you go to the soda fountain?"

"I don't think it implies she's an alcoholic or has a problem because a 20-year-old girl wants to go out with her friends," she added.

The apparent Bush daughter confidante described Jenna and Barbara, who attends Yale University, as so close that they're each other's best friend.

She also confirmed that the president and first lady confronted Jenna last May about her brushes with the law, saying, "I think naturally, as any parents would be, they were disappointed. There were discussions. Yes, I'd say she got in trouble."

Elizabeth said that Jenna "regrets" the negative publicity the drinking incidents have caused and the embarrassment they've brought to her family, but dismissed media speculation that the first daughter is somehow lashing out against her parents.

"I cannot tell you the wonderful relationship she has with her father," said Elizabeth, "and what a wonderful person she is. She would never intentionally do anything to hurt anybody, especially her mother and father."
