In mountain communities of NM it is said one never loses his wife or woman, he only loses his turn.......

Which explains why the words "loose" and "lose" are used as synonyms by some people; but it does seem to be a cause and effect association rather than interchangeability, at least in the example you have given above....

and to get back on topic, gold is down tonight (312), the dollar is down (105.89), the Yen is up (119.6), the Euro is up(99.56) and silver just sits there (4.83) as usual...
