Politics, religion, and women:

Those subjects were forbidden in the Officers' Mess when I was in the RAF and for good reason. I've noticed that the second subject has crept in periphally into recent posts by the founder of this thread. Probably not a good idea I thought the political discussion started with his professed admiration for Dubya -but it could have been a post by Ray -I haven't the time to go all the way back through Ray's posts, but I think he came here in response to something rather than initiating something. Could be wrong

Tim I've had a look at some of Ray's posts elsewhere - hardly the work of a 'zealot' at all! Unless you define a zealot as someone whose views cause you discomfort? BTW I chose not to answer your post to me in kind - the post where you chose to describe yourself as a 'moderate'. That in itself blew my mind but I felt it better to let it stand - except I wonder if you've read anything at all about what's actually happened in Afghanistan and whether the actions there have lessened or enlarged the threat to the US? The warnings about July 4 (can we believe them, or is it spin to keep the populace scared and therefore behind the endless war?) are a case in point.

Even the Daily Telegraph, that conservative paper owned by a conservative, quotes senior aides of Tony Blair in their open contempt of GWB and his 'inept puerile views' (embarrasing?) of the Middle East and American bungling in Afghanistan. So are we indeed seeing an Imperial Presidency - the rest of the world be damned. The world be damned.

So, OK, I've answered you but you asked for it IMO
