The message needs to get out that it ain't OK to cook the books. If that means somebody goes to jail, so be it. The rest of them will get honest real fast.

As for understanding the regulations: That's the problem, see? Have you tried to understand your Income Tax booklet? It's supposed to be written so somebody in the eighth grade can understand it, but Money Magazine has shown many times that 50 CPAs will give 49 different returns given the same tax records, none of which is exactly right. Too many lawyers making tax law, is my reason. What's yours?

the President made it clear they would be held accountable.

The President's own Harvey Pitt Bull made it clear that he wants the CEOs to sign documents that will ultimately shield the auditors from liability. They have to sign documents that indicate that they are either an expert in finances or willing to play front man for those who are.
