I'm comfortable with President G.W. Bush's wise decision to keep US troops abroad immune from any ICC machinations... I recall the US soldier who raped a Japanese girl in Okinawa --the guy was arrested, tried, and sentenced... A top brass (a US admiral, I think) even apologized, etc. I recall another US soldier did similar abuses in Bosnia and, likewise, was sentenced to a prison term... Then, there was that plane incident in Italy: a US surveillance plane flew under a cable-car line, accidentally cut it, and killed a dozen Italian skiers... The US soldiers were all tried, sentenced, etc. However I can't recall the prosecution of Belgian paratroopers who tortured Somali kids during their "peacekeeping" mission... Even though Belgian state-TV broadcast the pictures showing Belgian soldiers swaying a Somali kid over a brasero. And France still has to try her war criminals who tortured and killed Algerian civilians about 40 years ago... Gus
