With all the stock-based acquisitions (and a Mississipi-born CEO, like WCOM's-vbg), CSCO is a skeptic's paradise.

Was thinking about getting in (again, after making a killing on it in the late 90s), but decided not to. Too many stock-based M&As make for a very scary stock.

Watch for a market that overreacts to corporate shenanigans. Lots of good companies that report fairly and honestly--yeah, like QCOM--are going to get a taste of the whip for no good reason.

And, by the way, I welcome posters who ask us to reconsider perceived wisdom. I think Mucho does a good job of it and so does rob_v, though he is insufferably juvenile.

I dont always agree with M-ass, but he and rob are the only people who will give you something to think about.

Here is something to think about. I was in a Cartoys store today and counted 27 different GSM/TDMA phones available from Voicestream and ATT service providers. There weren't any Sprint plans available and only 10 VZ phones to be had. Sales man was gushing about MOT camera phone coming out in November. ATT will offer the phone.

Until this kind of pressure is met with same kind of pressure, QUALCOMM product faces uphill battle. Sprint roll out of 1Xrtt will clearly demonstrate the differences when it happens. In the mean time competition is fierce, and consumers really don't understand the differences between the technologies.

One good sign, the store is in a little hodunk town, and it was packed.
