How was the weekend sayle?

a little of everything. very nice.

best story of the weekend:

it's still very dry... air still filled
with arizona smoke. the only thunderheads
building thus far this summer are dry ones with
rain evaporating before it hits the ground (verga).

out on the lake saturday, one of these dry
clumulo-non-nimbus storms builds over the
mountain to the west. it produces two (2)
thunderclaps, a little spit of wind and then it
evaporates. thirty minutes later there's a plume
of smoke up in the mountains - a new forest fire
from one of the 2 bolts to come out of that storm.

within 45 minutes after we see the smoke, along
comes one of these mosquito-looking things:

it sucks up a load of water from the lake in 25 seconds.
it made the round trip to the new baby fire every five
minutes about a dozen times until it was out. that made
me VERY happy.
