Al >I'm sure not too many investments in the general market are.

In fact, today's failure of the market to continue its upward swing of the previous days is making many people very unhappy --- and worried --- as they should be.

washingtonpost.com

I found these contradictions interesting as the media keeps trying to keep up the flagging spirits of the smashed-up investors:

"Skittish investors ignored an upbeat report about the nation's manufacturing activity, focusing instead on negative company news as they await the next round of corporate earnings reports to get a clearer picture of how businesses are faring."

"There is an overall distrust of Wall Street and so people are ignoring the economic data"

Can one blame them?! Skittish (= frivolous, unpredictable), indeed. What a damn cheek. If that's not contempt then I don't know what is.

As the saying goes, even the media with all its propaganda and lies can only fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time but not all the people all the time.
