Frank: I got it from the other end.

Went to Calgary to work for a year in 1977 with US$ and bought a condo. Don't remember the exchange rate but I remember that the C$ was strong because of action in the oil patch and real estate was booming in Calgary to the extent that they were building through the winter. Anyway about three years later when I sold it I was lucky to get my original US$ cash out of it in spite of a run up in the Canadian Process because the C$ had dropped in the interim.

No regrets though... saw a lot of Canada in that year and mostly places the ordinary Cannuck doesn't get to, What a beautiful place it is in places.
