The banks want to compete directly with Real Estate offices.
They want to open Real Estate offices right in the bank lobby. This is not allowed at this time AFAIK...This would hurt traditional Real Estate offices in that banks could offer package deals. The NAR is fighting this.

This is not the same as Citicorp owning Coldwell Banker.
Coldwell banker has been positioning itself lately, acquiring other large real estate companies like Arvida and even real estate schools where they get graduates to feed into coldwell banker by sponsoring students through discount tuition.
