The 1997 dollar was worth about 20% more than current dollars. Assuming an inflation rate of 3.5%, one 1997 dollar buys 1.1877 current dollars. Or the current close of 1357.82 in 1997 dollars is 1142.6.

I am always amazed that everyone ignores inflation when comparing historical prices.
