I wouldn't be surprised if the net worth of this country was greater than those 20 countries as well. Americans have a vested interest in our freedom and affluence both of which make up our lifestyle. Another point to consider is that many democracies around the world are slackers when it comes to defense spending and if we don't pay for it, who will? Frankly, I wouldn't want this country dependent or beholden to anyone for defense anyway. The concept of peace through strength is a proven one. * * *
