Art - His Data is mostly innuendo. He used to base his arguments on economics with which he has some familiarity <g> but mostly now he uses his credentials in economics to legitimize political hack commentary. Most of his colleagues in economics (many of which are liberal democrats) think he does a considerable disservice to the field with these commentaries which have little to do with the credentials that give him the column.

OT - Krugman. Art- Here is a column arguing that Krugman must be outsourcing his column to the Princeton Young Democrats because as an economist he would write his columns very differently. It includes a humorous example of a kind of article that an economist would have written about the Enron trading issues.

his data are pretty sound, and his interpretations of govt. policies are well founded.

His commentary regarding expensing of stock options was pretty lame. To soley blame Bush, while conveniently ignoring democratic Senator Lieberman's complicity in the matter via his bill that overturned FASB's efforts to expense stock options back in 1994, was extremely partisan.

By the way, Levin and McCain, who recently tried to get accounting reform regarding this matter, are a democrat and a republican. They must be the two lone pols that don't have their hands outstretched to our beautifully managed Silicon Valley companies.

I think you and I are in agreement that some kind of campaign finance reform would be helpful.

Best, Huey
