"Israel has been attacked on a very grand scale by Arab armies several times since it's inception. Each time they justifiably defended their country. In the process of this defense, specifically in the major battles that were waged during the 50s, 60s and 70s, they drove the opposing armies farther away from the original borders of Israel. Is Israel occupying foreign soil? Yes, absolutely. Did Israel unlawfully occupy this land or did Israel end up on this land while they were in the process of driving away aggressor armies? This is an important distinction, even if some people don't believe this is the case!" Suggest you read "The Origins of the Palestine-Israel Conflict" for another facet of this problem. My feeling on this is that Israel(the state) does not want a just peace. I agree that a start towards peace would be to adhere to the Oslo agreement.
