'Brothers To The Rescue' Takes Unusual Stand On Migrants

MIAMI, 7:44 p.m. EDT July 2, 2002 - A South Florida Cuban rescue group is taking an unusual position when it comes to migrants fleeing Fidel Castro's Cuba.

The group, which has assisted refugees who flee the island -- often in flimsy rafts -- since 1991 says it will not help those who leave Cuba as part of a rumored Castro plan to flood the United States with immigrants. Brothers To The Rescue claimes Castro is planning to cut all ties with the U.S. and encourage Cuban citizens to take the Straits by the thousands.
