This is from the inquirer. This is very interesting. It was in Germany, I have heard, that the cpq/dec rubber met the road. By that I mean that was the hardest place to implement the takeover of a sophisicated midrange company by this low class pc company.

Is this the final resolution of the DEC integration problem? Now, wouldn't THAT be a sophisticated move? rudedog? you still around?

Schmitz told the German news agency, DPA, that final figures would be released at the end of next week, and that the company "hopes, where possible, to implement the job cuts without redundancies." We're not sure how he'll do that, but hey, what do we know?

In Germany, the new, slimmer business of would be merged into a new entity, HP Germany, after the current business year ends on October 31.

Worldwide, the New House of comPactness is seeking to slash 15,000 jobs as quickly as inhumanly possible. µ

* THIS MIGHT BE EASIER SAID than done in Germany. But after HP staff come back from their compulsory two weeks holiday which ends this weekend, heads are expected to roll.
