The telephone connection to the web is but a small section of the network. The main trunk lines for the Internet are WCOM lines. They also have leased lines to business that travel off of the public Internet that provide the WANs that businesses have come to depend on. A huge portion of AOL's proprietary network travels on WCOM.

BK could be good in some ways and bad in others. Its good in that you get some leeway from your creditors, its bad because it scares your customers into finding alternative sources. They need cash flow to service debt and build new business. They might have found the sweet spot....they've scared their creditors into giving them extra time, taken their bond debt down to new lows in value by looking like they will declare and at the same time with that press conference yesterday sent a clear message to their customers that they are still very much in business.
