That's the way it has been for a few months. Today a whole bunch of stocks are up a buck or close to it. AMAT, INTC, ALTR, NVLS, ORCL, TXN, NSM, etc....

According to your observation they should start to sell off before the close. Let's see what happens. If price goes higher and volume picks up, I think we have to decide the buyers are not day-traders hoping to swing a dime or a buck.

If this is a short covering rally, how high should it go before the buying capacity is filled ? NASDAQ 1400 ? 1500 ?
