Mucho, you obviously took my post personally although I was very careful not sling any barbs or arrows. So be it. You certainly have a right to disparage Greenspan as much as you like, but there is one huge difference between him and you and me. I don't know you from Adam, but I am quite sure (given the amount of time you spend on this thread) that unlike Greenspan, you are not a highly placed government official which means that you are responsible for nothing. It also means you can prognosticate all you want (and scare poor Limtex half to death) without any burden. Why, you even have the added benefit of being completely anonymous.

The single point of my entire comment was that while things might be 'veddy elementary' to you, nothing is very obvious. Even in historical perspective, nothing is obvious. Historians cannot agree on the causes of WW1 eighty years after the fact. Economists cannot agree on the precise cause of the 1929 market crash, almost equally long ago. Any fool can make giant predications about the distant future, but to what end? As the bard wrote in Hamlet "There are more things in heaven and earth Horatio, than are known of in your philosophy."

Good luck to all and a happy and safe 4th.
