Hey, in my book that's progress.

The old AMD would have waited until Friday afternoon to warn.

RE:"Elmer, it also bears noting that AMD warned in the middle of the night, on a week when many people are on vacation. No name is attached to that warning, and no reason given.
This is not the actions of a company with a lot of credibility."

No...you're wrong...

AMD was figuring the Q2 tally into the night last night.
Fictional senario...hehe.
After figuring it out they called in Jerry and said...this looks even worse than we thought, sales and ASPs have gotten even worse since our last warning a month or so ago.
Jerry may have said..."can't do a little dipsey do da pencil trick and make it look better?"... Financial officer said...no way Jose...I ain't goin' to jail...
Jerry said...ok then...let's not wait...we can't afford to get sued again. Press release it right now...so they did.

As bad as this is I take it as a step in the right direction for accounting practices.

Meanwhile over at Intel...they may have had a similar converstation...but they are in their quiet period. We will know when earnings come out...

To be fair, Intel will hold up earning a lot longer than AMD but time will eventually catch up to them too unless something turns around.
