Take my comment in context & it has merit for the reasons I gave........... And don't put words in my mouth.......... I never said Bush Jr. or Sr. had zero capability.......... nor that either Bush is/was perfect in all ways....... IMO, Bush Sr. helped get the Russians out of Afghanistan & using/funding groups fighting the Russians was part of the plan. Our intel was as good as it could be at the time & it succeed in getting the Russians out. Was there proper follow up? I'll let history & the facts decide although I believe it could have been handled better than it was. I do know that Clinton did significant damage to our ability to stay on top of hot spots, potential terrorists & the protection of Americans worldwide with his slashed budgets, failed & non-existent foreign policies........ And he changed the focus of, while dramatically down sizing, those agencies that could have protected us from 9/11, the USS Cole, the first WTC bombing, the US Embassies, etc., etc...... and his actions, or the lack thereof only made it easier for UBL & their ilk to escalate the atrocities with little fear of detection or reprisal. Bush Jr. didn't have much time nor the proper agencies policies & experts in place when he took office to prevent 9/11 from happening.......... IMO, that can only be due to what the prior Administration which had 8 years to dramatically change their focus while severely down sizing them. IMO, the USA has the best democracy, the freest people, the best opportunities for folks to get ahead & express themselves............. despite the buffoons that run the asylum........ BWTHDIK? Ö¿Ö
