I am sure intelligence, like lying, loyalty, beauty and all other human qualities, is to a great extent dependent on the eye of the beholder. I have many Roycroft items, including mottos by Elbert Hubbard- my favorite of his mottos hangs over my desk, "Never Explain- your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe you anyway." It is an apt motto I think. I have always liked the Roycrofters. Their books are great. But I enjoy explaining, despite the futility of it. What kind of conference were you attending?
