Windsock Re..If it is that easy why doesn't AMD go get a couple engineers that know how to make a 0.13 process work? And maybe a few from IBM that know how to make SOI work. <<< Simple, money and motivation. The foundaries are supported by Taiwan, have the gov. backing, and have made the success of the foundaries a national policy. The U.S. considers Intels survival paramount. As for motivation, many of the Taiwanes nationals probably would love to go home and become a national hero by helping Taiwan overcome their main competition. As for getting SOI from IBM, AMD did just that.
