I want them to be free from hearing their teachers, agents of government, lead them in a pledge which mentions God and which they will feel obliged to say if they are anything less than iconoclasts. This has nothing to do with wanting an atheist or agnostic state (I don't want one of those either- I want the government silent on religion, except to say- "you are free to practice whatever you want as long as you do not physically injure your fellow citizens, or obstruct their freedoms under the constitution"). I want a neutral state- it is not the same thing at all.
