I'm ordering DSL and cable for my new Arizona home. I've never used either. I'll be getting a dual broadband router. How do you handle the 2 separate static IPs? Does the router do the network stuff by software?

What do DSL software and cable modem software actually do...just set the network stuff so the user doesn't fiddle with it?

Will I still need a gateway to reroute the feeds to my kids and portable machines? I'm hard wiring the house in Cat 5 cable because I hate wireless (as Eric C would say..."seriously!")
