t2..

I was rather pleasantly surprised last year, to discover how much Americans are loved in SE Asia. While traveling through Vietnam and Cambodia we were repeated told how much Americans were liked. This was post 9/11, many people passed along their feelings of sorrow about the events in NY. They were also sorry that Americans had quit traveling (we ran into exactly zero Americans on this trip). Many told us that Americans seem to truly care about their condition and wish to help if possible, others come because it is cheap. Obviously these are gross generalizations, but we heard them many a time. Some of the actions of our government are despised widely, but the kindness of individuals can shine through.

Traveling the world gives great perspective.
Happy 4th to all, Scott
