I too don't believe in the sacrifice of for oil scenario - but I do think there were serious cock ups at the intelligence and possibly military level. There are so many spin doctors out there that we'll never know, nor will be be allowed to know. But that's all from me on this.

your point is well taken in regard to this thread

as to the rest, your well known myopic uninformed approach is also.. not well taken.

have a happy 4th, and get a bit of eyesight on your day off.

ooops, your profile does you justice.

you do realize you can serve and think at the same time right? you know that right? right?

or at best, try to turn off the milksop. it's so cow like.

Re: Do you really believe we would offer up as a sacrifice, that many people, a landmark like that and endanger our economy over something dumb like wanting to get involved in a foreign matter?

Foreign matter? No, what is being proposed is TWD, Total World Domination by the Corporate/Military Complex. It's not foreign, it's global.

Re: Even if someone in power was that sick, do you really think we would have killed some of our best minds and hurt our financial district?

I'm just asking the questions. It deserves a much better answer than the Cheney/Bush Secret Government is willing to share. Why do they have so many secrets?

Re: A state of readiness and being able to load up missiles and guns to counter a threat that no one ever imagined are two different things

There is abundant evidence now that the U.S. government had ample warning from many, many sources. One of the older ones, now suppressed and no longer available to the public, as far as I can determine, was written by the Department of Defense in 1993. The document was titled "Terrorism - 2000" and it did cover the use of jet airliners as missiles. A full eight years before 9/11. Seems to me that would be ample time to get ready. Especially since that was also the year the first WTC attack occurred.

I'll respect your idea that you'd prefer to to only chit-chat about market gambles, but I do have a couple quick ones about military preparedness.

If there were a hijacking on the East Coast, and as you suggest, all F-15s and F-16s are stripped bare of all armaments, wouldn't a commanding officer launch a few jets in the hope of intimidating the bogeys with fly-bys or threat of collision while he was loading the second sortie?

And wouldn't the F-15 always have a few rounds of 22 mm ammo at ready, "just in case"? Or has this ammo become so technical that it needs to be kept in special lockers like the rockets?

Just wondering, Ray

Indeed... Why sacrifice the WTC when we ALREADY had MORE THAN ENOUGH justification for taking on Al Quaida and the Taliban, based solely upon the bombing of the USS Cole, and our embassies in Africa (in which the majority were non-US citizens).

Lee - All you really need to know about Duray can be seen in this post he made on Thanksgiving 2001:

Message 16693014

"As far as "the innocents" is concerned, are you pulling my leg about the denizens of the WTC being innocents? Good grief, I trade against them, innocent isn't exactly the adjective I'd use."

Hope you had a great 4th of July,

LP.
