I think that would almost be true if you were talking about adults. But children are not like adults. They are far more impressionable, they do not have reasoning skills as their brains are not developed, and I do think they feel they must say the pledge. I've watched enough of them pledge, it is clear they do not think it is optional. Children act differently during optional activities.
