If anything, that genre sometimes highlights the simpler times we have left behind.... I was just reflecting on that. Toward the end of the movie, the monster approached the little girl. Her mother called to her to stand still and be quiet. And she did. In contemporary movies, the drama often comes from kids who don't listen and then end up in more of a mess which gets the hero in more of a mess trying to rescue him. Yes, watching those dated behaviors is part of the charm of the genre.
