itsa,

Teddy Ballgame missed 3 full seasons, and huge chunks of FIVE MORE due to the war and injuries and still hit 520 hr's! He would have SMOKED the Babe's 714, if not for his service in WWII and the Korean War. He averaged .344 and his on base percentage was nearly .500 for his career! His slugging percentage was nearly .634. He was probably the greatest hitter of all time. I have to say that Barry Bonds is making things interesting, but his career average and RBI numbers aren't spectacular.
