I personally would think that if the Pledge is read over the loudspeaker to the children, children of all religions, including atheists and agnostics, it would be even more important that it be a Pledge all children can fully identify with.

I think that not adding words that some students will feel "distanced" by would have been a good idea.

Our country has so many problems at this point that we didn't need this issue, too, so I wouldn't have brought or supported the case, personally.

That doesn't mean I don't think it was a mistake to add the words that divide some of those who make the Pledge from the others. "One nation indivisible" is what the Pledge is supposed to conduce to.

I added an edit regarding language to my earlier post, I don't know if you saw it...
