You may think it is a fact. You may believe it is a fact. But that does not make it a fact.

If you showed me your thermometer I could say, "Oh, yes, yours says 68" and we could get a third thermometer, or a fourth. Regarding the drizzle we could analyze the drop sizes and research what exactly a drizzle is. But there is no godometer, that I know of. Your internal godometer is your belief, and you are able to think of that as fact-like. I cannot say if you are wrong as to the actual existence or non-existence of God, because I do not know- but I can stay you have a strange conception of what a fact is.

But the existence of a higher being is a fact.

Marie, that's such an extraordinary statement that I'm all but speechless. I don't recall ever hearing such a claim made before. I've always had the impression that even people who say they "know" that there is a God, what they mean is that they're convinced, that there must be a God, not that it's a fact. Of course, it's possible I misunderstood, but even Greg always framed it in terms of belief even while he cited as fact events of the Bible, like the resurrection, which he felt proved the existence of God. I'm going to have to reflect on this a while.

But the existence of a higher being is a fact.
Facts are proveable. Do so.
