he pulled the ball. the defense moved to where he hit. instead of hitting to the opposite field, he continued to pull the ball. he still hit over 300. his lifetime stats would have been much greater if he hadn't spent years in armed forces during his prime.

HE sure did; WWII, Korea, likely the best hitter ever and a great friend of kids, esp kids with cancer.
