Everything ultimately can be made religious. After all, Martin Luther King made the civil rights movement a religious movement. (BTW, does it bother you to have us celebrate the birthday of a minister as a legal holiday? And if not, why not? His ministry wasn't just peripheral to why we celebrate his life -- it was central to it.) For those people who believe the Bible governs every act of their lives, everything they do is religious. You can't blithely separate things out the way you seem to want to.
