Oh yes I can. I can separate what he accomplished, from his religion. I can indeed do that.

His religion caused it. And I'm grateful to his religion for making him the man he was. But what he did, what we celebrate (or what I celebrate) equal rights and desegregation, are not religious things (imo).

Now on to the way I see the world. Of course I see my world just the way I do because I am who I am. I think I said that already- so of course I agree with it. I understand that some people can think everything is religious- I'm glad our government does not seem to rest upon that premise, because if it did it would have to side with some particular group of people who see the world that way, and no doubt there is more than one. Thus not even all the people who see the world as completely religious could be all made happy by government embracing that set of principles.

So I'm glad we're aiming at neutrality.
