It has long been established that including the words "In God we Trust" on our coinage is not an establishment of religion.

As to de minimus, IMO it is indeed de minimus to give people the choice whether or not to say "under God" when they say the pledge. Nobody is requiring anybody to say the words. It is simply that some people are welcome to remain silent for any or all parts of the pledge that they choose not to say. IMO, to object to that, and require that because it offends a few who don't want others to say it, nobody may say it, is more an establishment of religion than giving the choice.
