Ray, don't know if you read this re Winnick, but the Nighan allegations were intriguing (regarding the "map" bit):

I'd like to see a list of fellow carrier swappers myself besides getting a list of fellows "putting" their own stock or doing collars: "Global Crossing inflated its revenues by swapping capacity with other carriers." (per article above)

I see VZ subsidiary (Verizon Global Funding) has filed S-4 and 424B3. Zero coupon convertibles in a bear usually don't bode well for the stock, and from what I read, the company isn't getting any proceeds from either. Also read footnote 19 (could be 18) on latest VZ report regarding their pension plan assumptions.

Mauldin had an easy to read article about the "pension plan" issues affecting corporations & their "reported" earnings and assumptions and what such rich assumptions portend for real earnings and expenses and calculating P/Es:
