I don't have nearly as much trouble with the quality of their product as I do with the utter lack of quality in their HR policies. Slavery isn't that much worse a fate than being a Star-struck barista. No pension, no future, no profit share, meagre wage, low incidence of advancement.

In fact, it's a rather terrible model for how coffee shops ought to run. I'm a huge fan of the classic, quirky "mom & pops" that used to dominate the scene ages ago. The coffee wasn't nearly as good, but the social structure was so much more useful to human beings seeking a bit of dignity and a decent life.
