foreign content rules are easily skirted in rrsp's through the use of clone or index funds....these funds are designed to mirror the performance of foreign markets or funds, but qualify as canadian content due to the use of derivatives....any decent planner should be able to put your relatives on the right track...there are also several other strategies to boost foreign content using non canadian denominated bonds and realizing gains to effect the book value of the foreign holdings....i can provide further details if interested.....hope this is of some use....i
