KT,

Ah, I grow old, indeed.

It saves the cost of X-rays, you know?

To All, Mini-micro Barron's review. Lousy issue except for the Quarterly Mutual Funds Review and the Mailbag section. The letters were especially vicious toward one Abby Jo Cohen. Probably not worth the price, but certainly worth picking up and scanning in the store.

The domination of Calamos and Wasatch continue in long term diversified fund records. My old standby, Central Securities, is still the best diversified cef, but it has fallen from #1 among all diversified funds to #6. I told the manager not to buy Intel. <g> It still outperforms the brain dead S&P 500 by 6%+ per year over 10 years. Somewhat significant as 6% a year compounded gets you pretty close to a double, so that is worthwhile. But Calamos Growth and Wasatch Core Growth were both more than 9% above the index, so they were monsters.

Gold funds are finally positive for 10 years, but not for 5.

The rest of the issue was dull. Even Abelson was off his feed.

I guess I can take BGR off ignore now. He has been good for about 1,000 points down on the Dow this time.

Time to bring him back.
