SUNW has all the elements in place to become the next HP or IBM. I believe that they are doing the strategy that has worked for Scott McNealy for many years that is, invent the process or technology, get to the top of the hill first, defend the hilltop for the short period of time until the technology is obsolete, and then move on to the next hilltop. I believe that there will be another tech boom. Tech is indeed a cyclical growth sector as we have seen. You mention the next phase of the Internet. I believe that SUNW is working on that with their JINI technology. I believe there are wireless technologies that will help corporate productivity. I believe that SUNW is capitalizing on the need for "Homeland Security" through the use of databases. They will benefit from the upgrading of government systems (such as the archaic FBI computer systems which can only do a two word search). Integration, TCO and centralization with redundancy will be the watchword for SUNW's continued success. There will be a massive upgrade cycle which will commence only after there are proven good economic results, which is presently occurring.
