the thing with a yahoo board is that it is isolated. here on SI, or on IH or RB, there is a continual flow of fresh faces coming through. some are just aholes and aren't missed, but others become valuable contributors.

fresh blood is good. not always easy - lol - but good.

Syl, I've been member of some active "GROUPS" on Yahoo, (not the dreaded Yahoo finance boards, but the groups like I use to post Zeev's stuff and that Larry used to use), and they have several problems which I don't think can be overcome. [1] The spam ratio on anything Yahoo is quite high -- I mean popups and such; [2] the interface is SLOW and goes down for maintenance DURING THE DAY fairly often; [3] Yahoo has a stated policy that they are going to begin charging for everything as soon as they think they can get away with it.

Plus, WLD's point is quite good as well, i.e., it would be isolated.
