I think you are looking for the Will Rogers shorting stock comment which would be "Find a terrible stock and short it"
"When it goes down cover your short, it it doesn't go down then don't short it"

The great humorist had some real wisdom on many subjects, while he never made the above comment he had some similar advise on buying stocks.
