Jay,

Re: We are watching a drama of history, up close, live on CNN. Abracadabra, again.

I refuse to believe it. Roger Ailes, a very partisan GOP operative is in charge of CNN today, and the role of the station is largely to provide propaganda.

A more realistic statement would be: "We are watching abracadabra, in front of the curtain, almost every minute on CNN."

Someone wiser than me said that the totalitarians of the 21st Century would control the masses via manipulated images on electronic screens. I can tell they're making a good start.

Re: <<Mr Bush is devoted to political freedom, but he's forgotten the value of economic freedom.>>

I have no idea where you picked that quote up from, but I don't agree at all. Were Bush devoted to political freedom, he wouldn't have nearly as much egg on his face from the failed Carmona coup in Venezuela.

No, GWB remains true to U.S. foreign policy goals. Supporting every right-wing dictator and two-bit brasshat that is willing to do the bidding of U.S. corporate banking interests across many nations around the globe. The rhetoric about "democracy" rings pretty hollow in the face of the actual record of who the U.S. has supported over the past 50 years overseas. If anything, true democrats, like Hugo Chavez and Salvadore Allende appear at great risk of having a CIA bullet in the back of their head.

Hi, Jay and the rest - so "Heil myself" as well, as Mel Brooks' Hilter greeted the crowds - re Abracadabra. I think we should all work more on it, because it will be the recovery trigger.

I would first of all discount the whole idea to a sort of a mother's helper. It will not be the God sailing down to the troubled mankind - deus ex machina - and everybody will live happily hereafter. Possibly "the enabling technology" for the new order - whereas new order sends showers down my spinal chord. We had enough of that here in Europe. Actually we owe the world help in making sure these kinds of new orders dont happen ever again. Of course they will (sigh).

My bet is that Abracadabra will capitalize on the communication infrastructure, on all the dark bandwidth that's been put in place.

Plugging right away my stuff

Re CB, it will sound crappy, but I miss her. She had opinions, and she was not opinionated. I hope she's doing fine...

"...believing, in some divine way, America is different."

And so it is, proved many times over.
