I couldn't stand Clinton because he appeared to be one thing when he was actually another. That includes his taking Republican ideas for his own. To the extent that he was successful, that's the only good thing about him.

Yes it was a ridiculous statement. I couldn't stand Clinton, but it was more a personal issue than a political one. Whether people care to admit it or not, a person cannot be elected president in this country if they stray too far from the middle, liberal or conservative. The presidency is not a dictatorship. Political power shifts back and forth between the parties and the country continues regardless of what alarmists might say.
